Naira Derdzyan, PhD, MBA is an experienced finance professional with expertise in corporate finance, financial analysis, business valuation, and strategic advisory. With over 15 years of experience across banking, consulting, and financial services, Naira delivers a pragmatic, hands-on training approach focused on developing top level professional skills. She has led complex valuation projects, strategic assignments, and financial due diligence for major clients across diverse industries. Naira is a certified project management professional (PMP), Accredited Member of the American Society of Appraisers (ASA), Certified Real Estate Valuator by the Cadastre Committee of Armenia.
Describe a time when you helped someone improve their skills or knowledge significantly. What was your strategy?
At Grant Thornton, I regularly mentor our team of consultants, including those who are new to our valuation and advisory practice. My approach combines hands-on training with minimal micromanagement, allowing team members to take ownership of their learning while having structured support. For long-term development, I occasionally design tailored learning plans aligned with each individual's career goals. To reinforce learning, I encourage team members to present their findings in internal meetings, where I provide constructive feedback and highlight areas for growth.
What methods do you use to stay updated with the latest trends in business and consulting?
I regularly follow insights from top consulting firms, financial publications, and platforms such as Harvard Business Review, McKinsey, and the World Economic Forum. I also attend regional and international conferences, where I exchange perspectives with peers and thought leaders. Within our firm, I lead and participate in knowledge-sharing sessions, leadership programs and subject-matter seminars. Additonally, I stay connected with client challenges, which often reveal real-time shifts in market priorities and expectations.
