There was a time when I helped a colleague improve their presentation skills. Although they were highly knowledgeable in their field, they struggled with public speaking and often appeared nervous and unstructured. My strategy combined structured practice, continuous feedback, and encouragement:
Breaking It Down – We first identified their key challenges: lack of confidence, poor structure, and over-reliance on slides.
Practice with Purpose – Instead of full presentations, we focused on rehearsing small sections to target specific areas for improvement.
Feedback Loop – After each practice round, I provided constructive feedback, emphasizing both strengths and areas for development.
Techniques for Confidence – We worked on breathing exercises, pacing, and storytelling techniques to make their delivery more engaging.
Real-World Application – I encouraged them to present in smaller, low-pressure settings to gradually build confidence before addressing larger audiences.
Over time, their confidence significantly improved, and they became a much more effective and engaging speaker. Seeing their progress was incredibly rewarding.
As a business trainer and consultant, I’ve also noticed that many aspiring entrepreneurs want to start a business but struggle to envision its future or define a clear business vision. By using targeted questioning techniques and future visualization exercises, I help participants clarify their goals and translate their vision into SMART (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, Time-bound) objectives they can begin working on today.
I apply coaching techniques and gamification methods in business training sessions, while continuously exploring new tools and approaches in adult education. I stay up to date by regularly attending training programs and also develop methodologies specifically designed for startup businesses.
